Last week we finally went out for Ramen! I did my research and read some great reviews of Momiji, a Japanese takeout in Burwood.
The exterior of the restaurant is uninviting and we hesitated before going in. Thank goodness we did! We were greeted, seated and served cold water straight away.
Momiji meaning maple leaf is a great place for a quick bite to eat. It has a warm cosy atmosphere decorated with traditional Japanese artworks. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is nice and cheap. We have agreed its a local favourite!
You order by number. I chose the teriyaki chicken ramen whilst mum went for a bowl of chicken sitting on a mountain of sticky rice. The chicken had a smoky BBQ flavour and the miso soup was a refreshing accompaniment.
Alongside the ramen sits two bottles holding red pepper and chilli. Although they add an extra punch of spice they are not needed for this particular dish. The broth had a thick consistency, which was rich and full of flavour. I appreciated the generous serving of noodles. A perfect meal for a cold winter’s day!
After visiting a number of fine dining restaurants, we really enjoyed our tasty dinner at Momiji. Pop in for a bowl of ramen, a large bento box, some sushi rolls and much, much more!
