Thai seems to be the “go to” when dining with friends. On a quiet Monday night Alex and I enjoyed dinner at Nok Nok, Thai Eatery House in Darling Harbour. Disco triangle mirrors cover the walls, baskets of plants hang above dining booths and pots of trees are scattered with fairy lamps across a long white table.
Who said you can’t start drinking at the start of the week! My glass of Grant Burge Benchmark Shiraz from the Borossa Valley was a perfect touch to the night. Alex liked her cocktail “Happy Days”, a combination of cloudy apple juice and passion fruit blended with chilled vodka. A perfect drink for those with a sweet tooth!
For mains I chose the lemongrass salmon served with a side salad. It was light refreshing and healthy! The salad consisted of sliced shallots and tomato, which complimented the fish. Overall my meal did not leave me satisfied. A mound of steamed rice would have completed the dish.
It was a must that we would try their desserts! We shared the sweet sticky rice with Thai custard served with coconut ice cream and the steamed sweet sticky rice in banana leaf parcel with mango ice cream.
The contrast of the black and white rice was presented well along with the fresh strawberries crafted into flowers. Two rolls of rice incased a red bean filling which was nice and subtle. Our least favourite was the square of custard. It had a strong egg flavour and the texture was neither smooth nor silky. We especially liked the ice cream!
