The authentic cuisine of Thailand is a lot more subtle in flavour than the “Thai food” served up in Australia. Recently my mother and I stayed at the “Hansar Samui Resort and Spa” in Thailand. The hotel exceeded our expectations! A beautiful big pool with plenty of “free” beach chairs, friendly and attentive staff, great food, 5 star beauty spa and to top it all off the most comfortable bed you could ever sleep in. It was just heaven!
The dining room is spread over two floors with a view of Bophut Beach. Complimentary buffet breakfast served with a smile was always something we could look forward to.
We were luckily enough to be served by “Tiger”. Evening dinner began with a complimentary breadbasket and an amuse-bouche of crab and smoked salmon foam. If only we could have ordered it as a main course!
A traditional Massaman curry served with a pot of steamed rice was rich and mild. Tender pieces of beef, crunchy cashews and soft creamy potatoes submerged in a flavorsome sauce. Yum!
We enjoyed the chicken stir-fry served with chilli, sugar syrup, salt and soya sauce. It consisted of thick silky noodles, slices of chicken and fresh garnishes.
A cup of tea with a crunchy peanut butter cookie and a lovely smooth chocolate were a perfect ending to the meal before taking a long evening stroll across the beach.
