The more I cook and eat, the more I want to know about food. Therefore travelling through the country towns of rural Australia was a real eye-opener for me.
What a great time we had on our farm stay at “Old Redbank” not far from Molong. The little cottage which was our home for two nights was cute and cosy. Our hosts Julie and her husband Brian were simply delightful.
At dusk, Julie rode her motorcycle up the hill and called us over to help bottle feed two baby lambs who had lost their mothers. They sucked their bottles dry in no time at all! We also fed the chooks and later met two strange looking fury creatures. Alpacas!
It was wonderful to wake up to the early morning calls of the magpies and kookaburras and the sheep bleating in the neighbouring paddock.
Staying at “Old Redbank” further illustrated the importance of supporting our farmers and buying local produce!
